What is changing
We are enforcing a maximum query runtime limit of 24 hours. This change protects you from runaway queries that prevent engine scale-down and subsequently increase DCU consumption. As part of the August update, we shipped a change to enforce this limit on newly created engines. This limit will now be enforced on all existing engines that do not have a query runtime limit set. This limit cannot be disabled.

This change should not impact any regular workloads. However, if you have queries running above this limit. We advise re-evaluating the viability of the use case and optimizing the query if it is running above the limit.
